The poised anthropomorphic shape of the SKETCH collection captures the tension between the stationary and the moving, the living and the inanimate, the man made and the natural; rather like a 3 dimensional petrification of anamorphic evolution. The surreal and organic form exploration was developed by loosely and impulsively drawing directly onto AutoCAD software using a “computer tablet”. Through this lucid engagement and direct communication, intuitively marking “cutting lines” and edges with the stroke of the stylus rather than a painstaking process of refining through nudging nodes and vectors, this was form development was spontaneous and immediate. Each piece has a synthesis with another and all are similarly reminiscent of organic form found in cave formations and nature, rather like a species, the new product has formed almost through random chance, albeit with a designers watchful eye. Each piece is cast in re-cycled aluminium and is signed and dated on the bottom by the designer, John Reeves.
